Job Summary
Thorp Facilities Maintenance is seeking a dedicated and versatile Multi-Skilled Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eye for detail, an inquisitive mindset, a can-do mindset and the ability to carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks to ensure our clients’ properties are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
You will work across various sites, handling everything from minor fabric repairs to basic plumbing and heating maintenance. This role requires a proactive problem solver with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
This role is fast paced and varied and you need to enjoy working in this environment. You will bring good all-round skills, have a flexible approach and take responsibility. Our customers require ThorpFM to fix their property maintenance issues quickly and first time, you will work to this requirement and follow the ThorpFM Values.
Key Responsibilities
You will
Act as a representative of Thorp Facilities Maintenance, providing a professional and courteous service at all times.
Provide exceptional maintenance services to our high profile Clients and go the extra mile to deliver to the highest quality standards in all areas of your performance.
Use your own initiative to solve complicated technical problems associated with reactive maintenance activities, including sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.
Provide detailed write-ups of works carried out to ensure our client is kept up to date at all times and so that we can accurately bill our clients.
Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards, ensuring that you comply with current regulations and contract specifications.
Reporting and recording procedures, including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimise risks.
Liaise closely with our Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to all works either working on your own or as part of a team.
Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times, including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure the best possible working practices are adhered to.
Deal with a variety of Clients on a daily basis. You will represent the Company and be courteous and professional in your dealings with them at all times.
Provide a call out response across all contracts.
Fabric Maintenance:
Conduct minor repairs to walls, ceilings, floors, and other internal and external structures.
Perform basic carpentry tasks such as door and lock adjustments, patching walls, and furniture repairs.
General Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and proactively address potential issues.
Carry out basic electrical checks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, inspecting sockets) in compliance with safety standards.
Respond promptly to client requests and emergencies, delivering timely and effective solutions.
Plumbing, Heating & Electrical:
Address basic plumbing issues, including repairing leaks, unblocking drains, and maintaining fixtures.
Assist in the inspection and maintenance of heating systems, ensuring efficient operation.
Carry out basic electrical checks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, inspecting sockets) in compliance with safety standards.
General Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and proactively address potential issues.
Respond promptly to client requests and emergencies, delivering timely and effective solutions.
Grounds Maintenance:
Carry out basic ground's maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, pressure washing and removal of litter.
Maintain and clean any exterior items including table, chairs and parasols.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for colleagues and clients.
Maintain accurate records of completed work and inspection findings.
Key Skills and Attributes

Proven experience in fabric maintenance, basic plumbing, and heating system repairs.
Good understanding of health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role.
Relevant technical certifications or qualifications (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, or heating systems) are desirable.
A full UK driving license is required for site visits.
Have a very good Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
Capable of completing essential paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

Job Title: Office Administration/Office Manager
Location: Office Based, Newquay, Cornwall, UK.
Hours: Full-time, 08:30am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £23k to £28k dependant on experience

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Office Administrator/Manager to support the day-to-day operations of Thorp Facilities Maintenance. As the backbone of our office, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of administrative processes, compliance, and coordination across the business.
This is a varied role that requires attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to multitask. You will be responsible for managing key administrative functions such as invoicing, payroll support, compliance tracking, and travel arrangements, while also providing operational support to the team.

Key Responsibilities:
Invoice & Account Management:
Regularly monitor and manage incoming invoices via email, ensuring timely processing.
File invoices accurately in physical and digital systems for easy retrieval.
Collaborate with the accountant to ensure all invoices are submitted in alignment with VAT periods and financial reporting deadlines.
Maintain a tracking system for invoices to ensure no documents are missed or delayed.
Payroll Support:
Collect, review, and submit staff hours to the payroll company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
Address staff queries regarding payslips and ensure distribution is completed promptly.
Assist with maintaining payroll records for audits and internal reviews.
Administrative Duties:
Oversee general office filing systems, both physical and digital, ensuring documents are organised and accessible.
Manage the company’s CRM tools and ensure client information is up to date.
Extract critical data from client portals, including work orders and reports, and upload them to the Thorp FM platform for operational use.
Provide administrative support to team members, including drafting correspondence, updating records, and managing office supplies.
Compliance Management:
Monitor and manage the renewal of vehicle tax, insurance, and MOTs, ensuring no interruptions to vehicle operations.
Proactively arrange appointments for MOTs, servicing, and repairs as needed.
Maintain a calendar of insurance renewal dates for vehicles, public liability, employer’s liability, and other business policies.
Source competitive insurance quotes and liaise with brokers to ensure cost-effective coverage.
Travel Coordination:
Handle all aspects of accommodation booking for engineers working away from home, including sourcing, booking, and confirming arrangements.
Ensure accommodations are suitable, cost-effective, and meet the requirements of the job.
Maintain a log of travel expenses for review and reimbursement processes.
Work Planning & Scheduling:
Support the scheduling of engineers and allocation of resources for upcoming jobs, ensuring efficient use of time and equipment.
Assist in monitoring job progress and updating schedules as needed to address delays or changes.
Communicate with team members and clients to confirm appointments and resolve scheduling conflicts.
Requirements:
Previous experience in office administration or a similar role.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willing to learn other systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive and adaptable attitude, with a willingness to take on new challenges.
